Uriel Jones on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!

After seeing my interview with Motown Drum Legend Uriel Jones, Jeanne Bonfilio contacted me to let me know that she was attempting to get the FUNK BROTHERS a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!

The latest on the effort is that Jeanne hand carried the nomination on May 28, 2009 and it is now official – THE FUNK BROTHERS HAVE BEEN NOMINATED FOR A STAR ON THE HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME! The vote will take place this month (June 2009). Nobody deserves a star more than the Funk Brothers and, being as this is the 50th Anniversary of Motown, I think it’s appropriate that the musicians who MADE Motown get their long overdue recognition on the Hollywood Walk of Fame!

On another Uriel note: The City of River Rouge, Michigan is honoring Uriel at their 3rd Annual Summer Concert on Saturday, June 27th. It is an outdoor concert where they charge $5.00 for each car to park in the park and all the monies go to childrens summer activities in the city of River Rouge. Uriel was one of the main people in charge of the events.

Let’s hope that the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce does the right thing by giving the Funk Brothers what they so richly deserve! We’ll find out sometime this month! As soon I get the results from Jeanne, I’ll let you know.

Stay loose.

I am so pleased to hear that the Funk brothers are finally getting a star. I still remember writing to Motown (yes, snail mail) in the 60’s to ask who the drummers were. Thank you for posting the information
