Tiger Bill Reviews: Steve Gadd DVD from Hudson Music Master Series In 2006, Zildjian launched its third "Mission from Gadd" North American clinic tour and this DVD features footage from that event and more. Let's check it out. Steve Gadd - Hudson Music Master Series After a brief intro we are treated to Steve's version of "Bye, Bye Blackbird" done with drums and vocal - a capella. "Crazy Army" displaying Steve's rudimental skills is up next. Next Steve gets the audience/viewer involved in clapping out a Clave pattern while he solos against it. Steve has been one of the most famous drummers in the world for many years but what impresses me the most is the fact that he has remained truly humble. This is shown repeatedly in his interaction with drummers in the class. During the class, Steve treats us to many of the grooves and fills that he has made famous over the years including the songs "50 Ways" and "Late in the Evening." Topics covered include Steve's take on locking in with the click, playing as a team, rudiments as grooves, odd time patterns, brush technique, Mozambique, Shuffles, Swing feels and more. Bonus
Features Steve Gadd: The Bottom Line I highly recommend it. This DVD from Hudson Music, while a good value at its suggested retail price of $29.95, is available at an even better bargain from Tiger Bill's Drum Shop. Until next time: Stay loose. Join the largest, most
