Since he was a kid Karl always wanted to play with Santana. By the time he was 12, he was already playing with Cal Tjader, Malo Ray Obiedo, Prince, and Andy Narell. And in 1991, it happened. Karl played timbales with Santana.

Karl has also performed and recorded with Mariah Carey, Dizzy Gillespie, Phish, John Lee Hooker and numerous others.
